I just rounded up a few recent style related instaphotos aka. I’m procrastinating.
Hey! I am already living in those saltwaters as they are super comfortable and I didn’t even have to break them in. HIGH FIVE! Seeing that my wardrobe almost merely consists of clothes in different shades of blue, the saltwaters were, natch, a good choice.
In the second photo, I’m donned in my new jumpsuit from Organic by John Patrick and my grandmother’s blazer. And just a heads-up for those of you who want to wear rompers to the beach: Make sure there is a public restroom nearby the beach. If not, don’t even bother considering wearing one. Truth be told I barely drank anything for six hours so that I didn’t have to powder my nose behind a naked shrub. Well, talk about being practical… otherwise, I haven’t had any other bathroom-related issues in terms of rompers.
My mom also unearthed an old pair of cork wedges (third photo) that she used to wear in her younger days. Unfortunately, turned out they’re a weeny bit too small for my feet. Booh! If only they were a size bigger and I wouldn’t have to think of sandals again for a long, long while. So I ended up passing them on to my little sister. Design-wise they are the perfect cross between the K. Jacques barigoule sandals and A.P.C. cork wedges that I’m aching for. Obviously I haven’t made up my mind because I want both (do I need both?), but I tell you, right now it is impossible to narrow the choices down to one.
Ha ha! We do not always think this kind of detail when we buy our clothes.
Love the photos! I also have that problem with wearing shoes from my mother. I wish I could borrow from her because some of her shoes are so nice!

I love seeing these little glimpses into your life, thanks for sharing :)
This is an unrelated question, but do you wear foundation/concealer? I really love your simple yet elegant style, but I often feel silly trying to dress nice if my skin looks bad. What are your thoughts?
Hi Clementine! Yes, I wear a tinted moisturizer, concealer AND mineral foundation. My skin has gotten very bad lately. Every single pimple leaves a scar or a pigmentation spot, so I have to cover them up. And unfortunately, I just continue getting a lot of pimples. Well, I always do my makeup before putting on my outfit, otherwise I feel the same way at times.. that my ugly skin could ruin any outfit. Hope things work out for you!
So glad the sandals are working out :)
Re: a second pair, I think if you like a little height, wedges make a lot of sense. I get a ton of wear out of my Marc Jacobs wedges – so comfortable, a real no-brainer of a shoe.
shame about your mom’s sandals, they look really flattering. Why not get the saltwalter’s in a tan color? I like those see by chloe ones you posted, but if the choice is between the kjs or the apcs, I’ll vote apc. As it seems the closest to your mom’s version.
I have Saltwaters in red and tan, and both pairs get a lot of wear. They’re hard to find in the UK but I buy mine from Toast. They last forever and never start looking tatty or faded. Saltwaters for life!
Hi Fleurette, you look great and I like your photos. Good to see your grandma’s jacket in action again.
I found some great sandals at Massimo Dutti girls. Do check them out if you have time:)
I just bought dark brown Saltwater sandals. You’re so right, they are amazingly comfortable even from the first wear. They seem almost impossible to find in the UK but if anyone in London is looking for them, I got mine from Hub in Stoke Newington.
I love your Saltwater sandals! Did you only have to go one size down or more? I want to order a pair when I go to Canada in a few weeks but a little weary about what size to get.
Hahaha, I love your practical advice on the rompers, I honestly hadn’t thought about that at all!
I think you should consider sandals from rondini.fr instead of k. jacques. The are cheaper and more stylish.
Thanks for charing with us and thanks for all your posts this spring.
I have to tell you that i’m 39 and love to follow your planning for the season – I’ve done the planning myself twice a year as long as I remember. I learned if from my mother. And now I try to learn my two daughters the same.

So nice to see the liberty print shirt once again! I really tried to recapture its essence in the sessun shirt, but somehow it doesn’t measure up, or perhaps the colours in the sessun piece do not suit me….most probable!
Lovely evocative images. I actually thought the brown sandals were the apc wedges. My parents very kindly bought me the navy pair this week but they haven’t arrived just yet. Will let you know how I get on! Curiously I am still kicking myself over allowing the navy sandals from APC’s last sale to escape me. The weather was appalling at the time, and I simply could not foresee wearing them.
Oh so glad you’re enjoying the Saltwaters! I’ve been wearing mine for a year and they’re still going strong, as the quality is deceptively high. No wonder I wore them every summer as a child.
Any update on the raw denim?(I am considering springing for a pair, but I am still on the fence)
Hi!
I just saw your reply on my comment on your other post!
What size did you get in Salt water sandals? Size down, size up or are they true to size? I’m going to order a pair!
x
Oh well, ordered them on Modcloth a minute ago, hope they fit!
these photos are very pretty, I’m following you on instagram now ;)
Love the photos and I’ve been in the mood for rompers recently too. It’s too bad that I’m pretty hung up on the bathroom issue so I’m pretty scared about venturing into romper territory!
The halter ones from AA are nice for a “quick release” romper (they can be REALLY short depending on your height/leg length though). Easy to take off in a moment of desperation and simple to tie back on. I haven’t had any uh-ohs with mine!
Ooh that sounds like a good in-between (actually had never thought of that before); however, I’m a huge stickler on being able to wear a bra with straps with my clothes. It’s weird because I’m almost completely flat haha, but bras are a must for me! Speaking of going to bathrooms in American Apparel, I bought a black bodysuit from AA for my Halloween costume. Of course, you have to practically undress completely in order to use the bathroom in one of those–and, low and behold, when I’d gotten to the party, there were no more doors on ANY of the bathroom stalls. AND there was a huge line consisting of all of my female classmates!
Hmmm, I have a black one so I just wear a black racer back bra with mine. I’m the same about wearing bras, even though I’m one of those who could afford to go without, haha.
I don’t have problems with putting on and taking off rompers on the beach, just the bathroom-issue when you have to use the nature and only wear a romper. And no bra either. Haha
I had never seen those “Saltwater” before in my life. It took me 2 minutes to find on Google that Alexa Chung is wearing those !! And suddenly, this weird pair of family sandals becomes attractive ! I suddenly want a pair ! How weak is that ?!
k jacques k jacques k jacques hahaha you won’t regret it!! I also like rondini sandals, which are also authentic tropeziennes styles… the saltwaters look good on you, I’m desperate for a pair but the only store that stocks them got heinous bright yellow and purple colours in.. I’ve love a nice navy, matte brown, or even a black… I’m so boring haha!
xxx
I love the shoes, simple but so chic!
That’s the reason why I never wore a playsuit/jumpsuit. It’s a PITA if I have to get to the loo :) I bought the saltwater sandals for the my 6 year old and she adores it them.
Oh this makes me wish it was Summer here so badly!
I have navy Saltwaters too and I love them with the right outfit – but they’re gathering dust in my wardrobe still this year – although they are waterproof so I guess I could jump through rain puddles in them. Today I will be wearing rainboots, sadly.
Love your sandals, both colors.
