I’m not dead (just almost) but my online presence is. The funny thing is that I’ve been flirting with the idea of making another blog, solely to post random ramblings and bits and bobs – something I’d call a cross between my relatively slow blog and fast tumblr. Anyway, I have a few A.P.C. canvas tote bags to give away to those of you still pops in here once in a while – and also because I want to make up for my involuntary absence –, so make sure to stop by in a few days to see if I’ve gotten around to announcing the giveaway.

I like this idea fleurette – while I don’t really use my tumblr that much I’ve always wanted another place where I can write about things that maybe dont fit well on my blog. I don’t know, like thoughts about books im reading or movies ive seen or places I want to go to. You should have a look at my friend Natalie’s blog – it’s fantastic, and she also has a separate blog where she writes about food/eating. I like her division.

I love Magic Surrounds. I used to read So Much To Tell You. Her blog is the kind of sub-blog I want to create, and the kind of blog I’ve been reading lately due to my incredibly busy student life. I’d like to post my opinions on movies, books, music, etc as well without using 1000+ words. Just a brief paragraph or just a sentence without even justifying my opinion. I’m thinking of a place where I can go back in the archives and think “oh, in march 2012 I was really depressed and restless and wanted to travel everywhere, hence all the pictures of beautiful cliffs”, a kind of diary.
I certainly hope you’re doing well. Your blog continues to be a beacon in an ever-growing sea full of trash and emptiness. And honestly, infrequent posting makes it all the more exciting when you do update :-)

I started my blog with the intention of making it a blend of extended, written posts and just brief little ramblings and images I liked that seemed relevant to the blog’s theme in some way, but every time I go to put a post together, it ends up spiralling out of control and becoming yet another 1000+ word post that people probably have to struggle to get through, haha. So I think there’s a certain implicit logic to having separate blogs for different levels of involvement with the content – one place for the more involved, thought out, planned posts, another place for something a little less involved and with maybe shorter posts or just visual inspiration, and Tumblr just for easy image collecting. Makes it feel like a different level of commitment and you can just post to wherever you feel is appropriate and wherever suits your level of motivation or interest.
Holy moly, you do know what’s going on in my head. Exactly! When I set aside 1-2 hours for blogging, I always end up spending a lot more time than intended, so I don’t even try these days since I’ve got a lot on my plate and always have to stick to schedules. And I guess, with this blog, I have to live up to the expectations of doing thoughtful posts and keep up with that sort of image of mine. I’m not complaining, though, just been wondering if I want to make a new blog and post mindlessly about clothes and food haha. But I think it’s also largely about commitment.
Jess of Empty Emptor, I like the posts that you write, I read through all of them after finding your blog! You write articulate pieces that tie academic papers and your experiences together, I find hunks of writing a pleasure to read.
Looking forward to your blog-to-be Fleurette! At least with a few different platforms you won’t feel the pressure to only write about a few specific topics that require a lot of time and thought.

I come here quite often but I’m mostly greeted by the same sight – that of your last entry … though I would appreciate more postings, I also completely understand why you cannot produce them in endless numbers. Being a thoughtful shopper and having a fashion blog sounds almost contradictory ;-) Anyway, take your time, I can wait for the next post. Yep, it’s almost a contradictory indeed. But right now I don’t feel like I could preach about being a mindful shopper as I’ve been spending too much time window shopping online AND buying too much stuff… albeit it’s stuff I’ve been coveting, but I’m being an emotional shopper these days. That APC tote is really cute! It’s not the best quality though, but it’s free and made of the remaining fabrics from earlier collections – which is a good thing. And the shape is perfect!

Akkurat sånn som McDonalds. Folk går på mccern fordi de vet hva de får der. Skal de ha salat går de ikke til Mccern, så det er litt absurd at McDonalds har salat på menyen. Begynner jeg å poste masse meningsløse ting og instagrambilder, holder jeg ikke standard og hvem vet hva som skjer. Haha! Jeg tror ikke folk vil gå inn her og lese om de fine tingene jeg vil ha eller om frokosten min. Tror ikke noen vil det heller, men jeg vil ha et sted å samle disse tingene, haha. OG det er også en unnskyldning til å kunne leke med egen layout. Jeg simpelthen SAVNER å fikle med blogspot-layouts, lol.

And while I’m sure you know I don’t *need* another bag, I keep looking at this APC tote and longing after it’s lovely simplicity (for as much as I blog about hyper-feminine and whimsical things, I actually most love to wear the same clean, simple clothes you adore; crisp blazers, plain black skinny jeans and a steady rotation of soft tees and breton stripes and this goes so perfectly with that). That said, if another reader wants/needs it more, you should give it to them over me!

I wrote about having gratitude for what we have recently so I know what you mean about not taking our loved ones for granted. I can totally understand about wanting to start a blog that covers multitude different topics. I find it excruciatingly difficult to write about fashion all the time. I tend to mix it up with food, photography, travel and personal musings. I guess it boils down to the fact that I have the attention span of an insect so I flit from topic to topic everyday else I bore myself silly.
I think you do it well! I check out every post of yours even though they’re not about fashion – I love your traveling pics and all the food talk as well!
