What I wore today

I dress as if it’s still September, which I’m over the moon about. Although it’s the middle of November, the snow hasn’t arrived and the current temperature is indicating that a snowy winter is very far from around the corner – I don’t mind at all, as I can’t stand the snow and have yet to find a pair of winter boots. I’m having such a hard time unearthing the perfect boots for winter – or… I think I’ve found them but I’m ruined to the hilt, so it’s all about strategy. Waiting for the sales, in other words. So I keep crossing everything crossable for a prolonged snowless period of clement winter.

Anyhow, this is what I wore today. I guess no one could ever tell whether or not I overslept and just grabbed the clothes within reach – the latter is what I do every time I dress. Truth be told, I don’t make much effort in outfitting myself, but it does take a lot of effort to become effortless and achieve the look of ease.

Besides, I chopped off my crowning glory on the spur of the moment last week. I might want to go even shorter. And I’m going back to London on Monday – just another spontaneous trip, which I booked on one of my sleepless nights of this week. The control freak in me wants to do some planning now. Yes, I’m such an oxymoron!

  1. Jeg syntes du får det til å se helt effortless ut, jeg :)
Og forresten, vinteren kan godt vente ja. Jeg klarer heller aldri å finne en varm (og perfekt) jakke! ei heller sko…
    Uff.

  2. My favourite part of this outfit is the barrette in your hair. It reminds me of childhood, but on you it looks so sophisticated.

And as for going even shorter, I’m all for it!

  3. Go shorter!!! I have super curly hair so I cant cut my hair too short without having a little fro-ish thing. I think you would look gorgeous is shoulder length hair… or shorter :)

    • Not stupid at all, why do you say that? haha! Sometimes they slip out at the heels, I wonder if it’s because the width has expanded? But I think most of the time they don’t slip out. I will have to pay more attention to this issue, haha, so I’ll let you know in a few days! Lol :P Thank you very much. I am so happy with it! One of my best purchases ever!

EDIT: My loafers don’t slip out at the heels! But I think they do when I don’t wear socks.

  4. Polished and chic as usual :) Your hair still looks really long despite the chop! It looks very voluminous/wavy, what did you do?

p.s. I wonder if you received my email a few weeks ago, about selling an Acne dress? x

    • Thanks! It’s still long but 10 centimeters went off. My hair is wavy thanks to a texture/soft wave perm.
Oh yes, I received your e-mail but forgot to reply! Sorry, and thanks for reminding me. I’ll reply asap.

  5. You sound like me! Most mornings, I barely have time to clothe myself while I’m running around frantically to get my little girl dressed, breakfast ready and spelling done before the school bell rings. I’m usually found in my skinny jeans, striped long sleeved top and an Isabel Marant jacket too. Have a great trip to London!

  6. What a beautiful coat. And a great sweater. I’m waiting for the APC store to go on sale hehehehe… I bought my first two APC pieces from the summer sale.
You have so much hair – I’m so jealous of you!

    • I too am waiting for the APC store to go on sale. There are at least 5 pieces from the current collection that I have to get my hands on. And thanks, I don’t have a lot of hair. I have very fine hair and very little of it, so I have to rely on products.

  7. It’s so true that it takes quite a bit of effort to get your wardrobe to a place that it’s full of flattering, well made clothes–so that you can pull blind and be secure that you look good. I’m this way with work clothes–but it takes me longer to put together casual outfits.

  8. I’m incredibly jealous of people who can wear jeans during the week (be it for study or work). For some reason, because my jeans are the only bottoms that I am truly happy with, it would totally simplfy getting ready for work in the morning tenfold! With respect to all my other pants and skirts there is something annoying or “not right” about each and every of them. Frustrating.

    • Thanks! The perfect boots that MIGHT go on sale are, of course, from A.P.C. Otherwise I love the mars and penpal boots from Rachel Comey, but they are more suitable for spring and fall.

  9. I love the simplicity of the outfit. However, sticking to a uniform is easily said than done. I am amazed that you have the consistency in spirit (at least as evidenced through the blog) at this age. I am inspired to further examine and edit my own wardrobe.

  10. “It does take a lot of effort to become effortless and achieve the look of ease” – I absolutely agree. Congratulations, it seems like you’ve come closer to having your perfect wardrobe! :)

I like your outfit, except for your hair clip (I’m sorry, but when I look at it I feel pity for your hair b/c you will have split ends in no time!) and the shoe/sock/cropped jeans combination, but that is just my very own opinion! :)

Your blog is pure perfection and your such a great inspiration to me!

    • Thanks! I like my hair clip, it means a lot to me since it belonged to my grandmother and evokes fond childhood memories. The shoes/sock-combination is necessary, otherwise I’d freeze till death. And in my case, I think socks in low cut shoes work.
