London diary pt. 1

Thanks for the tips on eateries in London. I didn’t have time to eat 24/7 but I’ve pinned down every recommendation on the map as I will most definitely go back to London soon. Anyhow, I jumped on the iPhone bandwagon last week and I already have nigh on 100 photos on my Instagram account – so pardon me if my blog ends up looking like a massive Instagram vomit (I go by bonjourtristesse).

1. Outside Liberty.
2. Visited Le Pain Quotidien for the very first time in my life and alas I wasn’t a weeny bit impressed at all.

3. Organic soup of the day. Perhaps the most nauseating soup I’ve ever ingested.
4. At least the lemon tarte was edible.

5. An outfit snippet.
6. Picked up this very bold and daring jacket at Urban Outfitters. It reminds me of last season’s Vanessa Bruno.

7. The roof at Urban Outfitters.
8. London’s Christmas decorations are up already…. just another trick to make people to spend more money.

9. Blue cheese burger at Byron Burgers. Aside from the bread the burger was good.
10. The interior, on the other hand, was cheesy and interesting.

11. & 12. Don’t remember the name of this place, but it’s the neighbor of the Hummingbird Bakery in Soho.

13. Went to Liberty and Selfridges to find the perfect winter boots, to no avail.
14. Diptyque candles at Liberty.

15. Went to Tesco and bought parma ham, brie, crackers, ice cream, chips, and red wine for dessert. Decidedly a great way to wind down after having lugged around a heavy bag since cock crow.
16. Mariell and her fiancé were so kind and let me crash at their place. He made lasagna, and we chatted about everything but the kitchen sink while waiting for the plumber who never showed up.

  1. Looooove London & love your pics !
I’m just à little sad for not see more of your outfits : because i love your style !
    I hope there will be more… Maybe in pt 2 ?! :)

    (Sorry for my English, i’m French… ^^)

    • Thank you! You’re far too kind. :) It’s a bit difficult to take outfits pictures of myself with my phone, haha, but I’ll most likely do more instagram-style outfit photos in the future!!
And your English is perfect, don’t worry!

  2. Ah this post makes me want to run out and buy an iPhone just to get instagram! The pictures are so, so lovely, and I really like that denim shirt you are wearing! :)

  3. Yay! More of your photos! I always enjoy photos that you post. I really wanted the Vanessa Bruno blazer/jacket that I think we’re both thinking of when referring to your new red blazer. How is the quality of it?

    • I’m afraid the quality is poor. The fabric is already nubbly. It was a gift from Urban Outfitters, and I thought of this jacket as a great way to be a bit more daring style-wise, and I’ll see if it manages to stand the test of time if I take care of it properly – as if it’s a designer good from Vanessa Bruno.

  4. Hi Fleurette, I wanted to send you some love from the U.S. I’ve recently discovered your blog and I’ve already devoured it from beginning to end, and I just love it. It’s so refreshing and inspiring to see such style for me.

  5. Bah, I completely agree about Le Pain, I don’t understand the obsession, or even the passing interest! Over priced, over rated, and I LOATHE the communal seating trend haha.

  6. You make me wanna go back to London so bad! Next time you’re there, you def have to try gails bread bakery ;-)
Oh and have you ever been to a museum? Sososo nice, ooh, I just love it. I’m glad I can go back in spring!
    Take care, bisous

    • Yup, I wanted to! I’ve pinned down the address! And no, I’ve actually never been to a museum in London apart from Tate (but I went to the cafe). I need at least a week in London for museums and such!

  7. Oh dear, and I actually liked the salads at Le Pain Quotidien, haha. But I agree about over-priced – I didn’t remember it being as expensive in the past as it is now.

That red jacket works is a lovely departure from your usual palette!

And I really miss my iPhone now, I curse the person who stole it. It’s such a great way of snapping pictures and sharing with your friends.

  8. ha ha! your photo captions made me laugh.

i totally agree about le pain. i’ve spent $30 on lunch there (in US) and still left hungry.

what’s up with urban outfitters’ ceiling?! kinda gross…

  9. Jealous of your iphone. I think I’m the last person on earth without one. As for the Pain Quotidien, there’s on just around the corner from my house here, and their chicken/fresh mozzarella/spinach tartine has saved me from starvation numerous times. But really what gets me is their bread. Just the plain whole wheat sourdough bread, which they will sell you by the 1/4 loaf so it never goes stale. The only bread I buy now. Yum.

  10. I used to live in London for 6 years and your photos make me miss it so much. Pan Quotidien is overrated its just like Paul’s but from belgium and it’s a chain which says it all. Next time have a walk around primrose hill and also pop by ottolenghi or baker&spice they have much better food and cakes. I love the red jacket and the diptique candles. Hahah so with you on the Christmas decorations there ones here went up in mid November which I was finding really annoying as it was 25 degrees in HK. I am actually growing to like them more now strangely enough as its getting colder and I am remembering the kind aspect of Christmas the family times the snow (not going to see that one here).
