Oslove

(via kowie.tumblr.com)

Myriad apologies for my unpredicted blog hiatus and that I totally neglected my promise to post more than just once during the festival. That said, I’m still struggling to get into the online swing of things. To put the matter in a nutshell; traveling, work, family, exhilarating projects, love, friends, and sorrow have indeed thrown a monkey wrench into the blogging lately. I just wanted to break the mold and let you know that I’m alive in light of the recent tragedy in Norway and my city. I’m still completely taken aback and bewildered by the bombing and shooting – it’s completely surreal. I cannot stop thinking of the families and people who suffer from losing a loved one to this terrible event. This national tragedy is the essence of sadness to its core, but I have never seen so much love and solidarity among people before. And Oslo is completely covered in roses. Thank you so much for the kindness and concern expressed through emails, twitter messages, formspring questions, and comments – they are truly uplifting in these dark times. Stay strong and take care of each other!

  1. It's good to see a new post from you, Fleurette! I've had Oslo in my prayers for the past week, even changing my facebook picture to the OSLO image, based on the I love New York logo. What happened is tragic and it is a miracle and blessing you and your family are okay. I hope Milan was a beautiful experience, that you are enjoying your summer, and it's very exciting to see you blogging again! xx (there seemed to be a glitch in my previous comment, but I believe I've corrected it!)

  2. A bittersweet post, to be sure. I'm glad you're okay. You and the other people of Oslo have my deepest sympathies.

  3. Such a beautiful blogpost, glad you're blogging again! What happened is horrible, I have absolutely no words for that! Take care <33Xx

  4. I can't even count the times that I have cried over what has happened. In disbelief, in sympathy with the people that have suffered a loss, and because of the overwhelming reminder of the extraordinary kindness of people. I didn't expect to have been so moved by an event in a neighbouring country. (I'm from Denmark.) I'm glad to hear that you and yours are all right. Take care.

  6. I'm still shocked for what happened in Oslo too… It is not "what" happened actually, but "how"… The cruelty of it allAnd of course I can't even imagine how hard must be for you, to feel it so near, to see all that suffering from so close…I don't even know what to say, so I just send you a big hugAl-The Red Dot-

  7. So glad to hear from you! Appalling, shocked, are some words for the event I heard on the news. For some reason, these are the times when people really come together and show the best in them and share the love and respect for the victims and family and friends of the victims! I'm very relieved that you're not one of them!

  8. The attacks in Norway were truly shocking and sad. My heart goes out to you and everyone else in Norway. Take good care of yourself and others. :)

  9. Such a shocking tragedy, but it really is inspiring the way a country can come together in support and love. The idea of a city covered in roses is truly beautiful. So nice to hear from you!

  10. I'm so bewildered and shocked by what happened and watching the events unfold even from a distance is so affecting, I can't imagine what it's like for you in the city. Glad to know youre fine anyways.

  12. Glad to hear that you are doing okay. Still shocked and saddened by this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are still with Norway.

  13. The attacks on Norway eerily remind me of 9/11 and with that imagery in mind I can only say that I hope you and everyone you care about is okay and that Olso/Norway are able to keep up the atmosphere of solidarity that you've praised your people for.

  14. So happy to hear that you are ok. (I thought about you a few times when Norway was in the news) For us it was also surreal and shocking to see what was happening in a place that is considered so safe.

  15. So glad everything's okay with you. Even though I don't live in Oslo, or knew anyone at Utøya, I'm still shocked and sad after what happened… trips to Oslo will be a bit different from now on.
