Hove essentials

Here are some of my festival essentials. So, in the midst of being the worst-case scenario of a busy bee, I have one way or another managed to launder my clothes and pack for 7 days of escapism from the real world. Tomorrow morning I’m leaving for the divine island Tromøy to attend the Hove festival. It’s going to be such a fun and interesting week, I can tell. Obviously, I’m overly excited, as I’m a virgin when it comes to festivals of this kind. Be that as it may, I have always prided myself on being a light packer, but in this case I think I may have overpacked a bit due to possibly unpredictable weather changes. I can divulge that this photo only presents 1/4 of the stuff I’m bringing. Thank goodness I have accumulated quite an amount of refillable travel-size bottles over the last few years of traveling – they’re such saviors, otherwise I wouldn’t at all be able to fit my bathroom’s cabinet’s top shelf into a small bag.

Anyway, I will most likely blog my personal approach to festival style every day next week. After all, I’m a festival rookie. On top of that, I’ll be tweeting daily snippets from the festival around the clock, only to make your life seem more miserable. He-he! On the other hand, I never got around to announcing the winners of the Hove festival passes giveaway: Olga from Warsaw and Jane from Toulouse. Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing both of you soon. Super stoked!

See you at Hove! (If anyone recognizes me at the festival; pardon my chronic bitchface that might repel you from saying hi, but please say hi regardless!)

My dad's old wife-beater shirt, two striped breton tops, cardigan from American Apparel, COS t-shirt, A.P.C. liberty print shirt, tailored shorts from Zara, Ray-Ban Clubmasters, disposable camera, Coco Mademoiselle perfume, Bumble & Bumble texture cream, Bumble & Bumble curl conscious reactivating mist, Kiehl's ultra facial moisturizer SPF 15, Neutrogena sunblock SPF 100, Chanel rouge noir lipstick, Kiehl's ultra facial cleanser and toner, writing pad.

  1. You must be the most chic festival-goer ever. I think you'll be quite amused by the average festival look, lolI am right now now packing for roskilde – my annual occasion to wear all the awkward clothes that linger in the back of my closet ;)Martina

  2. Hello DearLong time no comment from me, but always reading and enjoying your posts.I'm pretty jealous you're heading out for a festival, as I love festivals and can't attend any this summer (rupture of cruciate ligament! No way to walk elegant with crutches!!). Looking forward to your posts about it.Are you sleeping in a tent? Didn't get that and I can't imagine you in a tent haha. Oh and don't bring heels to a festival!! They only will get dirty.. you should pack your converses and a pair of wellingtons haha.Wish you lots of fun!!Bisous

  3. - Martina: Haha, lol, I guess I will spot lots of fanny packs and feathers! I too had to unearth some hidden clothes from my past! Have fun at Roskilde!- Sophie: Hey, so nice to hear from you! So, you're still checking out my blog (hurray!). So sorry to hear about the cruciate ligament. Hope you'll recover soon! I'm not sleeping in a tent, but in the "press house" as I will be working for the festival's newspaper.. I'm going to bring my Kooples boots and we'll see if I can wear them there. I don't think Hove is a typical "dirty" festival, and if I spot dirt I can always change. Changing clothes and shoes won't be an issue for me, fortunately. I need the extra height that the Kooples boots give me (especially when standing in the mass of people). (Also, i'm bringing five pairs of shoes… hahahaha. A pair of wellingtons (in case of rain), converses (for dancing in the night), loafers, kooples boots and flip-flops for the beach).

  4. Oh wow hope you'll love it! I'm a festival junkie, but I'm tent friendly actually :)Denim shorts, bretons (tees) and raybans just like you, are my festival uniform, except I also add a feather earring haha. I also wear some dresses for excruciatingly hot days and don't forget swim wear (or maybe there's no beach/pool/lake/whatever nearby). Either way have fun, I'll look forward for your report!I've checked the Hove's program and Oh my! I love everything, I wanted to go/participate on your giveaway but I just can't, I have to study all Summer :( but I'll go to one festival (instead of 3 like last year…) oh well.P.S. I'm curious about your camera, it's a simple disposable camera or does it have any cool features (lomo…)?Thanks for blogging so beautifully

  5. Nice essentials! Jeg skal ikke la meg skremme av ditt noe bitchy blikk, og si hei likevel! :) Jeg gleder meg utrolig mye, og håper festivalen lever opp til forventningene dine.

  6. Chronic bitchface!!! hahaha you crack me up! Have fun at the festival, I've never been to any festival so I will be living vicariously through you. Love

  7. I'm glad you're not in a tent- hopefully the press place is slightly more clean, lol.Have fun and be safe!xo

  8. I hope you have a great time, the island looks beautiful. Shoes are the worst part of any trip – I'm always torn between making sure I have what I need for every occasion, and travelling light.

  9. Great selection! I hope you are also bringing warmer clothes, especially for the evenings, it gets really cold at festivals – a great excuse to your favorite knits in the summer:) Have the best time at the festival!

  10. Have an amazing time! I think you'll be far more chic than I ever am at festivals – I step through the gates and my careful outfits turn into cut-offs and doc martens. Sigh.

  11. U decided to give tickets to people not living in norway one day before the festival?an excuse to give them to your friends instead?

  12. So what if she decided to give it to her friends instead. I'm certain she didn't but if she did, good for her and she has lucky friends! Jealous much?

  13. Thanks for the comments!- Flavia: Thanks for reminding me of bringing swimwear.. it's an island so of course I get the chance to have fun in the water! Regarding the camera, it's just a normal single-use camera. No cool effects!- Bostonista: I'm currently in the press house and it's superclean. So happy that I get the chance to sleep, eat, shower, etc, here..- Anonymous: Excuse me? Who are you to say such things? Ehhem, I contacted the winners two weeks ago but I never got around to announce the winners on my blog until yesterday. Gosh.. and the winners are coming on Tuesday ;-)- Anonymous: They're not my friends, just lucky readers that happened to win the giveaway.

  14. Oh, super jealous over here. Have so much fun!And I love how you stay true to your style even though you're going to a festival which I think is I think where most people are just like:" Alright, gonna wear all my crappy clothes – who cares, they're gonna get dirty anway."And travel-sized bottles are indeed life-savers!Again, have a good time and report back! :)

  15. OK. I'm sorry. my bad. i just thought it would have been so unfair if that was the case.and everyone here can say what they want. this is a comment space. :) i was just asking an honest question.

  16. Have fun! I'm heading for Hove on Wednesday myself, can't wait! Most likely (like last year)the weather will be changing all the time, but there's not much mud there. So dressing in layers will do!

  17. Unpredictable weather aside, it must be easier to pack with your edited down wardrobe! I just ticked a biggie off my shopping list (Isabel Marant-like boots) and even though these have been on my list a long time, I don't really feel the excitement of a great purchase. Do you ever find this with your organised list-shopping?xx Cristina

  18. I recently re-started my blog and wrote about you for one of its posts. I thought I should tell you since it seems a bit rude to write about someone without informing them. I hope you don't mind!

  19. Ooh I am dying to try the Bumble & Bumble texture creme – does it work well on Asian hair? You are going to look so adorable at the festival.

  20. Hi! I love your blog-you have the best style, I'm rather jealous. :) I was wondering what kind of camera that is in this post. Thanks!
