It’s Saturday #1

I can divulge with 100% sincerity that I’m a music junkie. I play and listen to music 19 hours a day (yes, I only get 5 hours of sleep every night). My passion for music started very early, specifically at the age of three (or four) when I stood in front of the mirror, while listening to Vivaldi, and imitated the violinist Sarah Chang by using a large bottle of body lotion as the violin and a chopstick as the violin bow. How creative! Anyhow, I have too many songs I’d like to share with you. Hence, rather than compiling monthly playlists I’m going to post one each Saturday.

Yesterday was a day I’ve looked forward to ever since I received a text message saying “Looks like I’m booking Miami Horror for you right now, for the 6th of May“. Sometimes wishful thinking becomes a reality, particularly if you know the right people. I discovered Miami Horror back in November 2009, and despite having listened to them practically every single day for six months I’m by no means fed up with the music. It was the thrill of a lifetime to see Miami Horror live, yesterday, on the occasion of the Hove festival’s release party. All I can say is, the concert was entirely ecstatic. I was literally beside myself with the thrill of hearing the band play my favorite song “Echoplex”.

I’m also looking forward immensely to seeing Charles Bradley and The Strokes perform at the Hove festival in 52 days. Apropos of Charles Bradley: his music really is quality R&B music, which is acutely lacking in the music industry nowadays. The music sounds like old school R&B arrayed in a modern attire. His music, not to mention his dynamic voice are utterly soulful, passionate and brimming with emotions. And the winds’ intensity is – as cliché as it may sound – just stunning! I highly recommend Charles Bradley’s debut album “No Time For Dreaming”. Worth checking out, I promise you!

Listen to the playlist on Spotify or YouTube. I hope you like the playlist :-)

La tenue du jour

This is just another variation of my uniform/silhouette. I like the fact that it only takes me five seconds to dress in the morning yet I always look put together – in my estimation. That’s one of the many advantages of having a wardrobe pared down to the essentials. Surely, it takes a lot of effort to become effortless.

On a different note. I don’t wear a lot of accessories. It’s not in my nature to pile on heaps of accessories. Obviously, I gravitate towards simplicity. A flash of ankle and wrist is quite enough to add a zest to my outfits. Also, I always wear my wrist watch, partially out of practicality, and my subtle gold necklace with anchor pendant. I’ve been wearing this particular pendant ever since I was little (I think it was a christening gift) and it means a lot to me.
