This is just another variation of my uniform/silhouette. I like the fact that it only takes me five seconds to dress in the morning yet I always look put together – in my estimation. That’s one of the many advantages of having a wardrobe pared down to the essentials. Surely, it takes a lot of effort to become effortless.
On a different note. I don’t wear a lot of accessories. It’s not in my nature to pile on heaps of accessories. Obviously, I gravitate towards simplicity. A flash of ankle and wrist is quite enough to add a zest to my outfits. Also, I always wear my wrist watch, partially out of practicality, and my subtle gold necklace with anchor pendant. I’ve been wearing this particular pendant ever since I was little (I think it was a christening gift) and it means a lot to me.

Tu es belle!
I think I've been looking at that exact jacket. It's gorgeous. If it's the same one I think it is, I'm hoping the sales season will make it mine.I adore accessories, but I don't think I wear very many at once. To be honest, you don't need them. The look is sharp and beautiful as is.
michelle: Merci!Aesthetic Alterations: It truly is gorgeous, but watch out for the shoulder pads.. some of my readers noticed that they appeared to be uneven. Probably bad luck :-/ I agree, I don't need the accessories.. apart from the ones that I always wear. Wearing rings, bracelets or earrings would be over the top imo. But a scarf is something else and keeps me warm. I always bring a scarf :-)
"it takes a lot of effort to become effortless."True. That jacket looks like a keeper by the way. I love navy + black.
very lovely fleurette! So glad you did a head to toe shot. While I love details shots, I really need to see the full silhouette to really appreciate the look! I love how you've been wearing your anchor necklace forever … what a very special item.
Love your outfit! I too don't wear many accessories, my wedding rings and studs do me fine for nearly every occasion. I have a couple of necklaces and some earrings for other times, but rarely wear them. I had a huge clean out of my accessories pile and got rid of all the things I don't wear or love. I'm always decluttering! I've been keeping an eye on Cheap Monday jeans and haven't heard any reviews about them – do you love them? Is the quality good? I continue to love your blog, lovely!
That's a really fantastic outfit/uniform! The navy and black combination looks great on you–I personally have a hard time pulling it off. I don't wear many accessories either other than my engagement ring and two other small stacked rings.I wonder if uneven shoulder pads is a common problem with IM jackets. I had an Etoile jacket from this season whose shoulder pads became uneven after a few wears. I had to take it back because it drove me crazy! You are lucky that your jacket doesn't have the same problem. :)
wow. you look amazing, I can't stop looking at your outfit!!! your hair very pretty as well
Excellent length on the pants and cuffs. I'm going to keep that photo in mind when I'm hemming mine.
Something tells me there is not one piece of clothing in your wardrobe that is actually supposed to be in the donation bin. Smart purchases with plenty of longevity are so important, but they need that stylist's eye to be pulled off beautifully in different looks time and time again–something you clearly have.
I covet your anchor pendant!
You look lovely! Everything about this look is simply divine! May I ask who takes these photos of you?
That's a lovely outfit! I don't really wear much accessories either and your breton tee/black jeans combination is one of my staples too. =)
Perfekt!! Ha en fin helg.L.
so chic!! love it.. ♥
You look fantastic. This is the kind of look that makes me wish summer would go away and winter would return – a great jacket adds so much to a look. Where's your watch from? It's very elegant and sporty. My closet is nowhere near as minimal as yours – but I too love the fact that I have versions of a few uniforms – once I have decided on one item to wear (sometimes it's a shoe), making up the rest of the look takes no time. Such a pleasure when things work together and you can get a lot of use out of the things you own.
Really lovely, Fleurette. I like your loafers – were they immediately comfy, or did they take some wearing in? My new loafers are destroying my feet and it's breaking my heart.
Spot on, head to toe, I love it! A watch like that one is at the top of my wishlist right now. And I agree, I'm not much for accessories. I can't stand to wear jewelry that doesn't have any special meaning or at least sentimental value, and since no one ever gives me jewelry (boohoooo I know haha!), well, I don't wear much. I suppose the real solution is that I should buy myself more jewelry ;n )
I love these pictures so much, and I really do think you manage to look both effortless and still very elegant and put together.
Så utrolig vakkert! Jakken sitter virkelig perfekt på deg, og eg elsker detaljene med klokken og smykket. Du må forsette å legge ut outfit bilder, veldig inspirerende.
Love navy and black together. You look wonderful!http://herribbonsandherbows.blogspot.com/
Beautiful pictures, and such a great outfit! I love everything about it.
amazing outfit ! love it. those loafers are incredibly beautiful too. tu es très jolie !!
I love your jacket!x
Ooh! Thank you for such lovely comments. You're far too kind :-)- Pret a Porter P: Definitely a keeper, even though I sometimes feel it's too girly for me.. but my body is rapidly changing, the gamine figure I used to have is turning into something womanly, so maybe it's okay to wear those jackets then :P – S: Thank you! As you know, I'm such a perfectionist.. and my headless "head-to-toe" photos always look so weird, I don't like to post them out of webdesign reasons, haha.. so I had to deliberate a lot on whether or not to post a photo featuring my head, haha.- Lucent Imagery: Thank you! I still have loads of accessories that have accumulated over the years, largely because I used to be a hoarder and I did not even wear those accessories, LOL. As for Cheap Monday jeans, the quality is not the best, you have to replace them often but they are very cheap.. i buy them because they're affordable and I love the fit. The fit of the jeans in the pictures is a bit odd, the jeans have stretched out a lot. I have been wearing CM jeans ever since I was 14, actually! – jennifer: Thank you dearly. How come you're having a hard time pulling off navy and black? I think these are the easiest colors to combine, though I guess it depends on the shade of navy. Oh no, I have to pay more attention to my shoulder pads. They do become uneven when my bag is hanging from one shoulder. Uneven shoulder pads suck big time.- Alex: Thank you! The photos are lying (or maybe I'm blind?), my hair is always terrible and unmanageable :p- L.L.: Cool, thanks :-D- Maria: You're far too kind… I'm beside myself! Thank you kindly!!!- Amanda: You should!!- J.: Thank you! It varies.. these photos were taken by my friend Ane Sunde. Maja Casablancas took the photos in the previous post.- Amanda, L, anonymous: Thank you!!- Ammu: Thank you dearly! My watch is from "Rutina". Not the best quality so I'm looking forward to my prospective watch buy – one from Omega or Cartier.. or maybe IWC (wishful thinking). I, for one, always have to start with the top, and the rest is practically random. – Kate: Took me months to break into my shoes and they are occasionally still uncomfortable. :-/ These literally destroyed my feet in fall, I even considered reselling them back then, haha.- Ringo, have a banana!: Hahaha I agree with you. Jewelry with no sentimental value seems almost pointless to me. Luckily my mom gives me special jewelry for my birthdays, christmas, when I attend championships, etc, that belonged to her and my grandmother. Most of the jewelry is too big for me (rings) so I can't wear them.- Ingrid, Susanna, Alexandra, Garderoben, Lula, Bohemian: Thank you very much!
I even your lips! You have the perfect natural pout. What season is your APC sweater from?
*envy (sorry)
Lookin' good! I have a tiny little golden apple pendant that was given to me when I was born and I wear it all the time too. So much nicer to have jewelry that has personal meaning in addition to being beautiful.http://nomadic-d.blogspot.com/
you look fantastic, those loafers are simply perfect! and I like how tiny your necklace is, it's very subtle but at the same time I think it adds a lot to your outfit :)
Dear Fleurette,I've been an impulsive and thoughtless shopper ever since i landed my first part-time job as an 18 year old (gosh, why couldn't I have been wise, like you..?) You have inspired me profoundly to scrutinize my behavior AND my wardrobe. The thing is, I've always felt overwhelmed by my closet (bulging doors, "a black hole", the lot), but at the same time: "I have nothing to wear!". So, now I've imposed a shopping-hiatus for myself and I'm currently taking some time to go through my clothes with critical eyes: Have i EVER worn this? Will I ever wear it again? Why am I keeping it? Does it even look good on me? and so on. The result? My "style" is slowly becoming clearer to me, and I'm feeling a sense of relief to let go of heaps and heaps of clothes I never wear (donating to charity also feels good:-)). I'm doing it in babysteps though, to make sure I make the right decisions as to what to keep and what to let go. I know MY style is somewhere in the piles of clothes I already own, it's just a matter of sorting out the clutter. Do you have any helpful tips that might take me through the process? And: Thank you, thank you, thank you, Fleurette, for this thoughtful and utterly inspiring blog! Stå på, du er utrolig dyktig! Klemmer fra meg:-)
This outfit is pretty darn close to perfection. I love the simplicity of the elements and how they all work together, whilst you still know they would all perform brilliantly separately and within other outfits. The contrast of the slouchy bag with the clean lines is lovely. Also how exciting to see your head!? A watershed moment Fleurette!! :) So nice to see a look in it's entirety from head to toe. xx
you look gorgeous but with such modesty!I love your a.p.c sweater, it seems confortable to wear :)I hope your fine, I personnaly miss everyday your formspring account ahah, I guess I will add a mail on the 50 you already have, sorry ^-^ Have a nice day.
Du ser veldig bra ut.
You look fantastic! Very beautiful.
Perfect! I wish I was so disciplined to stick to one style but I'm afraid it's not in my nature. So I guess you were able to get the stain off your sweater! Phew!
Love it! The proportions are perfect on you, and I think you've just convinced me to get the loafers I've had my eye on for a while.
Salut Fleurette ! Je voulais savoir, ta marinière APC est de la collection actuelle ou de la collection automne/hiver ? Merci d'avance pour ta réponse. Bisous. Léa.
Your look is divine! The full picture of you is amazing! The proportions are perfect! Thanks!http://styleofsam.blogspot.com/
You look terrific! I just want to send you my gratitude for changing my ideals of what fashion should be. I've always been a terrible compulsive shopper and kept up with the fast fashion fads–finally I stopped purchasing clothes temporarily because it was driving me nuts. Then, I discovered your blog. One of the enlightening moments of my life. I reassessed my style, got rid of useless clothes and rethought my purchases. People compliment on my effortless look and it's all thanks to you! :) Really, if you ever stop blogging–I'd cry. Haha!
Really like the outfit! It's easy to see your clothes reflect your personality.
WOW! You look terribly chic and elegant <3 And you look very beautiful as well. So glad to finally see your head :) Is your hair color natural?
I really love your simple and classic look and the wrist watch adds a touch of elegance. May I ask you how you take these photos of yourself and how often you do this?Thank you!Best wishes,This Good Life
Perfect outfit!!! I love those shoes soo much!
You look great! I like yr uniform. Your shoulder pads look alright, prob just angle of camera. Btw who takes your photos? Nicely done!
Very interesting blog!^_^http://mylifedreamshopes-anastasia.blogspot.com/
Håret ditt ser fantastisk ut! enkelt, men perfekt. Skulle ønske jeg fikk mitt til å ligge like pent.
So good, this outfit, I love that jacket but I simply cannot work such deliberate shoulders – all wrong on my frame. The colours of the outfit and the details harmonise so well – the anchor, stripes and navy very nautical but not in an obvious way.I agree it takes a lot to be effortless, but all worthy pursuits usually require effort.
ach! "Surely, it takes a lot of effort to become effortless." if you want to look pulled together, there will be effort at some point or other. i've come to prefer plotting and scheming BeFore i bring anything into my wardrobe, as i've found it leads to more consistent good result.wonderful look! i had a similar necklace for most of my life – a present at my birth, simple gold round. it was lost several years ago and i still tear the house apart looking for it every now and then. happy weekend! steph
Great blog.I love your classic sense of style.xx
Fleurette: SO glad it's not just me! I thought you'd tell me to be sensible and get rid of them but I love them so. Sometimes it's not the shoes but your feet that need breaking in.
Very chic, Fleurette. I love your lipcolor as well.
As I am French and you are perfectly able to understand the language, I'm going to comment in French, is it ok for you?J'apprécie vraiment ton blog ainsi que ton tumblr. But you made it in a perfect way!Bonne journée.Ava
You look absolutely stunning, the proportion just looks so right! I wonder who take these photos? x
You look like Jessica Alba on picture number three!
perfect! i love your outfit-posts! keep it up, you are gorgeouse! hugs :)
i'm only now realizing this jacket's shoulders have a subtle detail that adds a feminine quality. so pretty.i adore this type of gamine look, even though it doesn't always suit me. i don't consider myself curvy, except for boobs, haha- i guess that's one reason that certain silhouettes (such as straight-cut jackets) don't work as well on my frame- regardless of my petite stature.you're lovely! i hope we see more street shots/outfit posts like these recent ones.
Beautiful pictures!! xx
You manage to look absolutely cool.I particularely like your loafers as I feel it's the new shoe style I'd love to wear.I also find it a relief to be able to look so put together in under five seconds.I was never one of those girls that took them for ever to get ready. If it's not a problem I'd love to see how your hands look in your favorite nail polish.
Oh Gosh, I always envy (in a positive way though) people who can look so incredibly amazing as you do is these pictures.. Very nice look, so stylish.. sophisticated. x
you look gorgeous! this is perfection embodied in the form of everyday chic. love the little gold anchor necklace too – the perfect subtle touch.
Gorgeous! Love your effortlesly chic style ! Great look, adore your blog! Bisous!! XO Raspberry & Rougehttp://raspberry-rouge.com
Beautiful outfit! It looks great on you!
Ah! I just found the posts "The long way to the perfect wardrobe" pt. 1 and pt. 2 – very helpful and inspiring! Also, I really like Ingvild Telles thoughtful comment with regard to throwing away what you already have to make room for the "new" you…. Something to consider in the process! :-)
I wasn't so keen on loafers before, but I see how well they tie together this look in an understated and elegant way. Shoes can so easily become trendy and not classic. I see the virtue of these shoes now.Though I don't think I could bear wearing shoes that needed such a long break-in time. You look fantastic.
Thank you all for the incredibly warmhearted words. I'm glad you like my recent outfit posts and that I'm trying to incorporate more outfits on my blog – both for my own sake and for curious readers (I'm always curious about the style of person behind a blog that I follow. Alexandra from Her Ribbons and Her Bows, if you read this; I'd love to see more outfits on your blog!)..- Isabella: Haha, thank you! My APC sweater is from S/S 2010.- Slowly getting there..: Oh my, you're far far too kind. Thank you very much for the sweet words. I'm glad you found the other posts. Another tip: put the clothes that you're unsure whether to keep or not in a box, for example under your bed. If you don't miss them or don't even remember that you have them, maybe you shouldn't keep them? Good luck, and keep me updated on your process!- Olivia: Haha! Thank you! Though I'm not feeling so good about revealing my precious little head, haha :p- Maude: I have revived my formspring but people have to register if they want to ask me questions.. just so I can avoid getting mean, nasty or racist questions.- Léa: Salut. Ma marinière A.P.C. est de la collection printemps/été 2010. Tu peux peut-être le trouver sur ebay.. :-)- Anonymous May 6, 2011 2:53 PM: Wow! I don't know what to say other than I'm truly taken aback. Thank you so much. I know what you mean regarding it's driving you nuts – I've been there before and I can absolutely assure you that having a small wardrobe (small by your own standard) is a lot more relieving than possessing every possible trend. – Katy: Thanks! My hair color is natural, yes. My parents have completely black hair, whereas I have more brownish hair as you can see!- TGL: Thank you. I have been blogging since July 2010 and I think this is the 12th outfit I've posted on my blog. In other words, this is not something I do regularly but I'd like to post outfits more frequently. Partially because I like to keep track of my outfits (I like looking back. I have a whole folder on my mac devoted to my outfits from 2005-2009. So funny to look back at), and because I want to show that one doesn't need a large wardrobe so as to be well-dressed. I used to take photos with self-timer but it's such a hassle, so I just ask friends to take photos. – Anonymous May 6, 2011 6:10 PM: Merci! My friend, Ane Sunde, took these particular photos. Maja Casablancas took the other photos in the previous post. I guess Ane Sunde will photograph my future outfit photos as she perfectly understands how I like my pictures, and she's a great photographer (she's studying photography). – tinyjunco: I too have come to prefer plotting and scheming as it pays of in the long run. So sad to hear that you lost your necklace. This one means so much to me, I would've been crushed if I lost mine.- Ava: Tu es trop trop gentille! Merci beaucoup!- K: Thank you kindly! My friend, Ane Sunde, took these particular photos. Maja Casablancas took the other photos in the previous post.- Anonymous May 6, 2011 10:08 PM: O'rly? Haha, I can't see the resemblance at all!- style odyssey: It's good that you know what works for you and what doesn't. I'm not sure if I'm completely comfortable in jackets like this one. I'm partial to hiding my "curves" and dress more tomboy-ish. (Just because I was born a girl doesn't mean that I have to embrace everything woman-related).- angie: Thank you! It only took me forever to get ready when I had a jam-packed closet because I couldn't find anything to wear. Yes, I wouldn't mind posting a photo of my nails when I've painted them. I haven't had time to paint my nails as of late.- miss sophie: "this is perfection embodied in the form of everyday chic." –> right back at you! Thank you so much!!- Quinn: I know what you mean. Loafers are suddenly very trendy at the moment. Thank you!
Du er virkelig et forbilde!

wunderschön!
STUNNING!!!!!!!!
Many thanks for the incredibly kind comments :-)Anonymous: Cool, thanks for the link!
Beautiful! You're very pale ;) natural? i know that asian people are bleaching their skin, i wonder if you do that?
^Haha! It's natural and a combination of staying out of the sun (at least I'm trying) + SPF 100.
omg, you use SPF 100?????! i should get some of that// what brand are you currently using?
^I'm using Neutrogena. I hate sunblock, my skin feels sticky and heavy. I only use sunblock during spring and summer.
love your blog! i wonder if you can comment on the sizing on this jacket. did you take your normal IM size or a size up? thank you!
You look like you belong working in French Vogue! Très chic!
I seriously adore your style. You look so put together and have such a simple beautiful style.<3 Sarahtheantiquepearl.blogspot.com
Hi sweety!I found your blog on STYLINGGUIDE and your style and posts are great! I will defenitely follow you!If you want; feel free to check mine too :)!Love xx
- Biscuit: IM sizes are very inconsistent. I am normally the smallest size in all brands but I bought this particular jacket in size 1. Normally you have to size up in fitted jackets and size down in oversized jacket.- Anonymous: Wow, that's kind of you! Thanks :D- Sarah Dee: Thank you!
you look so beautiful and elegant and oh my god
I want your lips!!!Great blog!xo
oh ! tu fais très parisienne :)
très chic, indeed ;D
j’adore ton blog !!
