I sincerely love getting back into the bloggy swing of things. However, I’m planning on turning my blog into a fashion/style + semi-food-and-rant blog, despite the fact that my tumblr has taken a new (and positive) direction as of late.
I’d love to devote more space to little things that simply bring joy to life, be it good food, architecture, music or mere beautiful things. These little but often forgotten things are a significant part in terms of cultivating one’s personal style. Although my blog isn’t a complete picture of who I am but rather a small extension of myself, I like being able to take a look back at the things that (used to) inspire and partially define me. I particularly like to look through my July-October 2010 blog posts for inspiration.
Am I the only one who – inexplicably enough – derives sartorial inspiration from things that are completely non-fashion related such as food (not referring to things that are connected to fashion somehow like movies, art, etc)? Perhaps it’s the joyousness that sets me in the mood for sartorial exploration? I don’t know, but it’s totally unaccountable to me. Anyhow, let’s celebrate taste!
You're not the only one. I find inspiration through colour, music and art. I would welcome the new direction in your blog- I love seeing what inspires others.
- Asha: I feel like color, music, architecture, movies and art are things that are connected to fashion in a way, whereas food is something completely different.
I've always felt like style is closely tied to mood, and since food has the power to change, uplift, and shape our mood I think it makes total sense that you would find inspiration there. I'm loving your tumblr and I'm excited to see what changes might be in store over here as well :n )
Everything manages to work out somehow. Fashion goes hand in hand with other things in love – it's just one facet of it.
Yeah! I like this new direction! Fashion and style are closely intertwined with things like food, music, art, architecture, etc. If your style is a reflection of who you are as a person, then it totally should be influenced by all of these seemingly disperate and diverse sources.By the way, I love the pictures. :)
Inspiration can come from anywhere. I remember going to the aquarium and the colors of the fish, water, and the coral reminded me very much of the 70s era Saint Laurent scarves.Always better to focus on the positive! :)
I don't, but I should. You know, you one of the few blogs whom I actually really READ what you have to say. I'm not sure how you do it, but don't stop, whatever you do.
I love finding photos for my tumblr that have to do with life being enjoyed. Art and culture is what keeps a person sane. I love photos of food or food porn as I call it. People have told me it is a very Asian thing to take photos of your food before eating it haha
Oh Fleurette, please showcase more of your everyday life, it makes me feel more connected to the blogger and to understand them better such that they're not just blank landscapes with clothes hanging off them but real people with personalities, ideas, opinions and tastes.
BTW, brie, figs and prosciutto? Give me more of those pictures anytime! =)
Your photos are really lovely, all the food looks soooo good! I can't wait to read your posts with this new perspective..I completely agree with deriving inspiration from 'things' other than just clothes..I have this post by trois douze book marked:http://trois-douze.blogspot.com/2009/09/different-kind-of-inspiration.html#commentsI really like the way she describes inspiration (I hope i she doesn't mind it being linked here oh well)
I've never made a connection before but when my living place is decluttered and clean and fresh then my sartorial interest and inspiration is high.I also like how you push a little bit of thinking in your posts every time. How you do it?
Fleurette, I am glad to have you back blogging! And I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments about celebrating the moments that give you joy in other parts of your life. And indeed it is your blog on which to publish whatever you want to. I look forward to seeing other snippets of life and what beauty you find. I agree that there are often crossovers. I like an uncluttered home, comfortable easy to wear clothes, modern classic clothes and decor, simple but delicious healthy food, clear photographs, only one type of flowers in a vase at any one time…. the overriding theme is obviously my appreciation for each of these items on their own in a simple manner so that their very essence can be enjoyed to the fullest.
I love that you're incorporating more food posts into your blog. Food has always played a major role in my life (not always in a positive manner unfortunately). I can get so much joy out of a simple yet colourful dish.If you'd live nearer, I'd be happy to invite you to a dinner party at my house. :-)
I really think this will help people to get a more complete picture of who you are as a person, and antagonistic comments will hopefully decrease because of it. For me, food, art, clothing and places are all reflections of taste, and so are naturally related. I think the only way I could love this blog more is with the addition of food porn!
FML, just answered all of you and blogspot decided to mess with me! Oh MY!!!- Ringo, have a banana: That makes total sense :) And thank you. By the way, that smiley of yours crack me up.. it's too hilarious!- Joy: Yes, but it's weird though!- jennifer: Yes, I suppose your style is a reflection of who you are, at least an attempt. Like, your hands and nails are a reflection of your well-being, then your style must indicate something, right? And thank you for liking the photos, haha. Apropos of my photos, I'm not trying to pass myself off as a photographer here. I just have a thing for culinary photos.- Pret a Porter P: Cool! You must do a post on it soon. And I agree with you. My blog is supposed to be a happy place, so why not turn it into a happy cliché? :D- Deanne: Oh, thank you kindly. I just ramble.. :S and hi, i just visited your blog. It's really lovely!- L.L.: Haha, I don't doubt that. My mom should receive the gold medal for taking photos of food as I've never met anyone as enthusiastic as she is, haha. When we are like 10 people going out for dinner, no one can eat before she's taken photos of every dish. I, on the other hand, am just a bit too obsessed with food.. my phone is filled with crappy cellphone photos of my meals and I love flicking through them now and then. My friends think I'm lunatic, hahaha! :p- Amanda: Hihi, I like the way you put it. I have to go and find myself an exciting life, as its current state is so miserable. How did you manage to discern the one fig??? (I only got one fig on a bed of leaves). By the way, it's not brie but chevre! YUM!- Alex: Oh, thank you for sharing that post! – Angie: Yes, for instance a completely decluttered and organized bathroom cabinet adds fuel to my sartorial inspiration. It's a bit weird, though. And why thank you.. it's forced and just nonsense. My posts look awkward when they don't contain any words, hence I have to squeeze in something to make my posts look less empty and tumblr-ish, haha.- Lucent Imagery: Thank you! In fact, your blog has inspired me to incorporate other happy things into my blog. I love seeing all the food photos on your blog! – I am your lung: I second your second sentence. I've learned a lot from food abuse and fortunately food is only connected with happiness these days. Maybe I'll catch the next plane and have a lovely dinner at your place. I LOVE dinner parties! I wish I could participate in such activity more often.- Kate: Oh no, it's not supposed to give a more complete picture of who I am.. these are just snippets, haha. Yes, you're so right! My blog is a celebration of taste and food is just a natural part of it! And hurray, I will certainly post more food porn.. :-D Thanks for the encouragement, Kate!
Blogging about other things that inspire you (besides fashion/style) will add a wonderful dimension to your blog. It's a great idea! And I love what you're doing on your tumblr. The architecture photos are beautiful and serene.
I think it's fantastic that you'll be branching out. It actually reminds me of Luxirare – do you read her blog? I think you'd like it – she pays the most amazing attention to detail.Do keep sharing your fashion insights though – it's so refreshing to read your blog – I have a sense of entering a 'quiet' space when I do. It's refreshing to see a focus on true minimalism, classic style and quality in everything.
Love your blog , but now I am hungry……
- style odyssey: Thank you! I know, the architecture photos are great inspiration for my future house as my talented architect daddy is going to design me a house!- Chantelle: Oh, does my blog remind you of Luxirare? That's a huge compliment, so thank you kindly. Although it's been months since the last time I visited her blog, I really really love it and her blog provides such inspiration. Yes, I will by all means write about my style odyssey but I don't think it's anywhere near true minimalism.. i've figured out that minimalism and fashion is an oxymoron. My love for fashion, clothes, aesthetics, isn't something I can ever give up (not that I want to give up either) but I assume it's all about finding the balance. – Christi: I'm constantly hungry.. doesn't help to look at photos of food!
I enjoy good food and beautiful watermouthing pics. And side note to self: The time of salads has come! You're inspiring my dinner plan for tonight! A bit of roquette, laitue, cheese, Parma, nuts, vinaigrette and baguette! Miam!
Mote er jo ikke bare outfits, inspirasjon fra kolleksjoner, osv. Det er stemningen i en by, god mat og drikke, arkitektur, lyset i Paris på morgenen. Keep it up :)
It is the first picture here. Also I meant to add, whatever that leopard print thing is, it's nice!
I love food and food pics *am always hungry* and agree that there is some relationship between one's taste in food and their personal style.
love all the pictures. i'm going to love your already fantastic blog even more miss fleur =)
Although I do love fashion and style, it's my other passions – food, music, art, design, film – that give my life substance. I've realized that fashion is something that I'll admire only from afar. This I realized after working for a year at a well-known fashion magazine. People in the industry take themselves far too seriously, and to echo what you've said in your blog, the focus is too much on disposable/fast fashion. I actually have a facebook album dedicated to food, ha! Sometimes I fantasize about dropping everything and moving to Paris to study at Le Cordon Bleu. Perhaps one day :)Looking forward to the new direction of your blog!
YESSSS, j'adore que tu nous reviens en ravages! As I clicked on ur blog link today I was telling myself "Well for sure there won't be a new post since yesterday" (also a defense mechanism against deception hihi) and got so excited faced with this new entry! J'ai faim..xhttp://histoiresdunboudoir.blogspot.com
Food makes me feel greatly contented…and more so than anything else, I think people who can;t take pleasure in food are missing out greatly. I love to eat, and even more so than clothes, I feel like a meal is such a privilege. Cuisines are also an expression of culture – each culture has their own way of cooking and ingredients and I find eating to be a great way to appreciating new places and lifestyles. I feel more immersed in a place when I've had a local meal or two. I suppose it's no surprise that a meal can be inspiring!
Food, I endorse food. Cannot wait to see more joyous things from you Fleurette! :Dx
This is great!
No, you're not the only one. But isn't this about sharing what YOU discover? So many blogs to choose from, but in the end, it's you, that makes it what this is all about. And I enjoy it very much, like so many others.Magdalene
Style is style, taste is taste. It doesn't matter where the emphasis lay: if you have taste and style, just you have it. Period.
The little joys! I love seeing what inspires others. Hurrah for celebrating good taste.
yay this is going to be fun! inspiration comes from many sources for me – i've been inpired many a time just going to the greenmarket. :D
i think this is a great direction for you blog! to be totally honest, i find no sartorial inspiration from food, lol, or if there is, it's so very subtle i cannot recognize it. my general mood may inspire both my food choices and my sartorial choices, but that's different entirely. that said, i'm curious how food inspires your wardrobe so am very much looking forward to seeing these posts.
Beautiful pictures! I love food, and cakes/desserts. I also love clothes and music. Sounds like a perfect combination! I'm looking forward to this new direction.
Incredible post.I love seeing what inspires others couse i also get inspired too.
