I’m not an avid advocate of posting many photos in a row on my blog.. in fact, I should lessen my writings as they always turn out to be a lot lengthier than anticipated. Nonetheless, these scans of Garance Doré, who appeared in the Closet Confidential segment of the most recent issue of Elle UK, comprise content that ought to be enough words to suffice my urge to squeeze more juice from every potential sentence.
That said, I am an earnest disciple of magazine spreads such as Une Fille Un Style in Vogue Paris, Closet Confidential in Elle UK, and the sudden flurry of blogs that render an instant behind-the-scenes peek into the closets, workplaces, bathroom cabinets, apartments or lives of the fashion pack such as Closet Visit, The Coveteur, Into The Gloss and The Selby.
“Sometimes it takes me 10 years to own something. It’s like love. You want to let things grow on you.”

I loved seeing this in Elle. I've just done a post about most of those sites you mentioned, although Closet Visit is a new one to me so thank you!
This is a great article–thanks for sharing it. About the 10 years of waiting, that's about how long I've waited to get a Burberry trench. I wonder if this spring, the time is right.
Great article, love her style.http://herribbonsandherbows.blogspot.com/
i love her! not only is she pretty, but she seems like such a down to earth person! x
I was so pleased to see Closet Confidential was a feature of Garance! I have been such a fan of hers for so long and to get to see inside her closet, dream come true.I too share a fascination with seeing the inside of people's homes, flats, wardrobes, bathroom cupboards, you name it [I also have a strange fascination with pictures of un-set beds!]! I think photos like that lend to an insight of someone's true personality that can't ways be conveyed properly through words or actions. I have all the sites bookmarked which you listed, they are all great. I don't know if you've ever been to: http://freundevonfreunden.com/ but you might enjoy it, I love all their shots.
(:Glad you (and the readers) enjoy the spread! I indeed enjoy reading the behind-the-scene blogs too. It feels a bit voyeuristic at times but they do provide an unique and illuminating insight into not just what people wear, but why and how they dress as such in the first place, how their style emerges and evolves and so on. x
i enjoyed this article very much. i like getting a peek into someone's closet, strange as that sounds; and i think most of us gain insight and inspiration from such glimpses. garance is a breath of fresh air in the blogging world; i've been reading hers since i began blogging two years ago. thanks for posting this, and also those links!
I enjoy your blog greatly and I don't think you need to worry about lengthy posts. In fact the longer the better!
I love reading interviews. They are always a source of inspiration. And I agree with the philosophy of old brands too. Just bought a pair of Church's loafers and am breaking them in. They are simply solidly made and seems to be able to last forever. I am taking a cue from you and Garance and trying to invest in style and workmanship, rather than fast fashion!
I love Garance Dore but comparing her to a world war II reporter is a bit crazy and kinda unnecessary. The pictures are great though, and I am becoming a big fan of these kinds of features – the photography on thecoveteur is wonderful.
I love her personality as much as I love her style and photography, which I think you can't say for every blogger. She has taste in bags I can appreciate too – the Hermes Kelly (*swoon*), the LV SC bag. And that Zara coat!
Jeg er også fan av Closet Confidential i Elle UK! Og Garance Dorè er jo bare helt fantastisk, da!
Gorgeous post, and so true. x
I love her style philosophy and blog, even though sometimes I don't really like her outfits..she does have great taste in bags though.
great article!www.modedamour.com
Great article! This blog has inspired me to do more research on French approaches to chic dressing. I just found out my library stocks a book on Parisian street style, and I'm going to check it out today!
Thankyou for sharing this! Garance is so right – waiting is the best way. I've wanted a Mulberry Bayswater for 6 years, and now that I'm in a position to finally get one, I'm not sure I want it. I need to know someone with one that I can touch and play with! And she's right about old brands. I can see why she's such an icon.
I truly appreciate her approach to dressing. It just goes to show how well she knows herself and her soul. because after all the way we dress is an extension of our soul anyway…right? And that line will stay with me forever…..10 years….it must be love. Thanks to your blog fleurette and also the blog of Leo Babauta, I have paid off my debt this morning…..in full. 20 days before the deadline I had set for myself. Now I have started saving for items that I will love forever. Thank you.
Wow she has an amazing sense of style. I really like when she says that she neither likes outfits when they're too sexy or too masculine; the same happens to me :)
Lovely article. My ELLE subscription just ran out so I missed this one! I love Garance's blog – it has such a nice tone and feel to it and her philosophy is a good one.Too often I get all consumed in thinking I simply must have the latest this or that (the first flurry of a new relationship!) – yet the things in my wardrobe I really love and treasure are often the most considered, waited for pieces. But in the case of love at first sight pieces, they have to be "classics with craftsmanship that will stay with me forever" – Well said Garance! Thanks so much for sharing this article! I loved it. What a beautiful and inspiring woman.
Ahh I love Garance's style, this was one of the best Closet Confidential features yet in Elle xx
thank you for posting this! GD is such an inspiring and vivacious woman, and she brings so much soul into the photos and topics she posts about. and i love that she has such a 'slow fashion' approach to some special wardrobe pieces…definitely a style philosophy i try to stick to as much as possible.
Thanks for sharing, I will most definitely pick up this issue of Elle when I next go to the shops.
Everybody would like to be Garance. It's thanks to her that we get really good blogs today.
I went out and bought this issue, just because of Garance :) I love these kind of articles too.
Your post reminds me I should get my hands on this issue pronto. With that being said, Elle UK is actually one of the few magazines that I find worth reading (and purchasing!) these days and an article like this one just goes on to prove my point. And I agree, those blogs you mention are splendid. If you like the Selby I would recommend you to check out (if you haven't already that is) http://www.freundevonfreunden.com, it's very similar, if not better :)
Hi! Thank you kindly for the response. I've read every single comment but I will reply to each one of you asap.. Having "easy" weeks turned out to be mere an assumption, it's been so crazy + I'm leaving for Paris tomorrow I will most likely not blog until I'm back in Oslo!In the meantime.. take care and thanks again for the response. (And do check out my tumblr, I have a luxury problem and I would need your help!)
Il est très agréable ton blog :)BisousRino
