Are you a person who is frightened that someone will recognize you in the same shirt on two consecutive days?
If that’s the case, be a bit careless and wear your favorite garment every day for a week, whether it is your statement boots or an easily distinguishable chunky sweater. There is nothing wrong or embarrassing with repeating the same garment or even outfit several days in a row. It’s called a favorite for a reason.
Love the shoes
oh that is really my problem!the only thing i wore almost every day was my acne sweater ) now i'm too afraid that in the near future it will look too "old" to wear.
Veronique: I think most clothing looks better with time and wear!
Haha, I'm def a person who's afraid that someone will catch me in the same clothes two days in a row. But you're so right it's called "favorite" for a reason. I love your blog, Fleurette!
OH YES. I agree. My favorites are favorites for a reason!
Agreed! There's a norm where I live that says we have to wear something different every day. People think you're unhygienic if you wear something over and over again. So ridiculous!
And you must also consider the weather. When the temperature changes I also change my outfit.
^ I'm not saying that you should wear the same outfit for a whole year. lol
I love wearing my favourites over and over again! Especially at the moment I'm so tired from end of semester studying that is so nice to just get up, pull on my favourite jeans, boots, jumper and coat and head out the door. it's one less thing to worry about! And I love the effects of time/wear on clothes too! Makes me feel like they are 'mine'.
I am definitely afraid to wear the same outfit every day, especially I after I read from a couple of blogs that the writers never wear the exact same outfit again. So silly, I should definitely wear my favourites all the time and I am heading towards that direction. I just got rid of a massive pile of clothes, it has made feel so relieved and now just need to find some really good basics.
Those shoes like like they hurt a lot.
look like i meant
I think someone did an experiment, wearing the same outfit to work for a month and no one noticed. I think we *think* people care about what we were more than they do. Therefore, we shoulk wear what makes us happy, no?
I have the regular habit of wearing the same shoes, blazers, and bottom separates (jeans/skirt/etc.) many, many days in a row. It's the top that's difficult to repeatedly wear for me. But in the summer, I bet anyone who notices (and I don't think there are that many who would) thinks I wear the same thing over and over–I have a dozen almost identical camisoles that I just pull on with jeans.Maybe that's the solution? Imagine I have multiples of everything! :)
Nobody really notices anyway, unless one wears exactly the same outfit for 3 days in a row. I definitely wear the same trousers more than once a week to work. I only have 7 pairs of pants for work, which gets narrowed down to 3 pairs since I usually wear flats.
ohhhhhhh definitely! it's like what i do when i find a favourite song, i play it over and over

Amen to that!http://herribbonsandherbows.blogspot.com/
Veronique's comment made me laugh. I'm wearing my Acne sweater almost everyday as well, and I'm also afraid it won't hold up as nice as when I wear it occasionally. But hey, I love it so why put it in the closet and save it for 'special' days, right?
i've found that people don't really notice. for a psych class that i took, the professor asked us to wear the exact same outfit for an entire week (with some exceptions, e.g. the gym). a lot of my friends didn't notice until the third or fourth day!
I do this a lot mainly because, like you I buy quality over quantity so I have no choice..but I also think its a lot easier to get away with it if you don't wear really bright or printed clothes.
I have four pairs of trousers for work and I wear the same pair for days in a row unless they get too filthy. They're more than enough. And I often wear the same shoes and the same jacket/cardigan too. I'd change my top daily because it's warm here and tops need to be laundered more often. But I often wear the same top at least once every 2 weeks and usually more. I never even noticed I do that until I thought about it. Hurrah to favourite things!
I wear my favs on and off for the week…I only do laundry once a week so…Plus my favs are very comfortable!! I would love to see more pics of your favorites!!!:-)
Ally: I agree! The best part is that I always feel I look great in my favorites even though I wear them every day in the same combination.Meri: That's silly. To wear new combinations and outfits every day requires a pretty large wardrobe. TJP: YES! We must embrace our favorites!Jessica: Totally agree. It's like.. what's the point with luxury lingerie or silver cutlery when you only save these things for specials occasions?Alex: Yes, you're right. Lin: Tops are more tricky but they tend to smell/get dirty faster. I noticed that I only wear the same things when my cousin in Paris commented that I bring the same clothes EVERY TIME I travel to Paris or to other cities with my cousin. And when I look at touristic photos of me from the past 3 years, I always wear the same clothes (lol).Anonymous: Will do. Basically, everything in my closet = favorites.
I don't usually wear the same sweater/pants/jackets or "surface" clothes more than once a week, probably because I'm afraid to be juged by other people at school. If I do, i wait for several days. So stupid really, cause NO ONE CARES. Suppose people just want to create an image of being successful = having nice (and a lot of)clothes :/
well said! :)
i lovvee this post! great shoes :)natalieoffduty.blogspot.com
Personally I do actually think that hygiene is an important factor, especially when it concerns clothing that are in direct contact with your skin. For someone who often wears shirts to work, I can't bear to wear the same shirt in 2 consecutive days. Light-colored collars and sleeve-edges get dirty very easily. For winter or summer, for men or women. Also for fine knitwear material like merino wool and cashmere which we all love, it's simply not good for the life of the garment if you wear it day after day for a consecutive week. I mostly let it air for 2 days on a hanger after wearing the cardigan/jumper. This is the way to avoid to wash it too often. The less you actually wash them, the longer they'll last you. As a frequent business traveler, I think I know a thing or two about light packing and getting the most out of a limited collection of garments. Pack things that really look good on you, in neutral colors and made of natural material(cotton, cashmere, silk…) that are inter-combinable. Don't wear the exact same combination in 2 consecutive days, try to change accessory/shoes/shirt, just to add alittle bit of fun and challenge to your travel wardrobe. As a woman in a mainly man-populated business world, I intensely enjoy dress professionally, practically and fashionably in the same time. It's perfectly alright to have a signature sweater or blazer that you love to wear over and over again. But it doesn't mean that you have to ONLY wear that until the garment falls apart. Fashion is, afterall, also a form of self-expression, comfort and fun.
I agree. =)It's just like a favourite scent that you wear because it reminds you of something special or the song you put on repeat because you can't get enough of… Same with clothes, if it's good and if I like it, I'll wear it as much as I wish. After all, that's those pieces you love that will really define your personal style. And there's always multiples ways of wearing the same garment and make it look different.amatutare.wordpress.com
I love it so much the way you said it : 'it's called favorite for a reason'. You are so true on that!! I think there's such a taboe on people wearing items, or outfits multiple times, but if you love it why not! We love it, so we wear it <3Love, Daphne
This advice certainly spoke to me. I have a striped shirt that I adore, and would love to wear this shirt several times a week. You have reminded me that I should not feel ashamed or embarressed of repeating items, rather feel prideful that I own such clothes that make me feel confident.
