Inspiration du jour: Balmain Homme

(via zeefashionista)

Fashion is fleeting. I feel that menswear is the only thing that inspires me nowadays. Season after season, it’s all about the classics – with a few alterations.

Photos of Balmain homme F/W 2010/2011 lookbook. Inspirational, always. The photos make me want to raid my dad’s wardrobe and put some golden buttons on his navy tailored peacoat. The subdued gold details on the belt are perfection. Never underestimate the beauty and power of gold.

  1. This is pretty much the opposite from the women's runway collection (which I hate!!!)…and exactly the reason why I love menswear. Though I would never actually be able to wear mens clothes, except maybe shirts and t shirts, but I think I would have to settle with the boys section, as I am really small

  2. I've always looked to men's tailored looks and style rules (I mean, seriously, why isn't there a female equivilent to Esquire magazine?) as so much more applicable and interesting than any for women. Also? I'm envious that there are fewer rules and changes to styles for men. I suppose that's probably why most of my wardwobe is basically menswear-inspired. I love that navy jacket. I was just eyeing some outerwear that is very similar to that. Love. I would wear both of these looks in a second (except for the white button-down, but I have a distaste for button-downs in general).

  3. Jeg og blir superinspirert av herreklær. Og dette var et godt eksempel på hvordan en stil kan vare gjennom alle fire årstidene. :)

  4. I usually drop by carlings' men section to buy sweaters and t-shirts. It fits me perfectly, even though I'm small and thin :)Btw, the jacket was soo nice, same goes with the model, haha.

  5. I always loved menswear for its practicality. All my shoes are flat, brown, and a bit battered, even my dresses are suitable for climbing around the trees in the park on a sunday. That belt is perfect; as are the tiny details in the second picture. Rolled jeans, red socks, striped sleeves poking out of jacket. Classic.

  6. I don't like the Balmain women's collection that much an never even thought about looking into their men's collection. You always come up with inspiration from such unexpected places! Thanks again for sharingI adore the golden details.

  7. I love the way the sleeves of the blazer and the striped tee are fitted in the second pictures, menswear is all in details, so classy. But I imagine that if I was a real men and had to wear menswear evryday , it might be quiet boring, the possibility are quiet small notably for evening occasion, but I guess that if I was a men, I wouldn't care that much of what I'm wearing too ahah.

  8. Dear Fleurette,I feel the same as you when it comes to menswear;currently it's so much more inspiring than womenswear.Maybe because it's all about clean cuts, clean shapes, classical and timeles pieces, that season after season suffer "minor" alterations in terms of color, fabric choices and overall styling.I love this Balmain lookbook, and I also love the fact that the model strangely resembles to Tilda Swinton…Bisousjwww.la-mignonette.blogspot.com

  9. Hi! I've seen your "shop your closet"-section.I wonder how you manage to keep so skinny, without looking anorectic (if you know what I mean…)? You have gorgeous clavicles! :) Take it as a compliment!
