The perfectionist

- I found the almost perfect carrot trousers. The trousers looked like they were tailored particularly to my body. Perfect ankle-length and neither too slim nor baggy. But a tiny piece of fabric covered the front closure, which put me off.

- I found the immaculate knitted sweater with a stunning neck that I believe is a fusion between the o-neck and v-neck. Sounds splendid, right? But the sweater revealed a little bit too much skin for my taste.

- I found the almost perfect tapered trousers. I rarely find tapered trousers that fit me on the hips. The legs are narrow but not too tight. Simple and understated cut à la Sofia Coppola, nothing extravagance, perfect ankle-length, perfect fit. The trousers didn’t make me look fatter or too skinny. But the cuffed hems put me off.

- I found the 99% perfect boyfriend skinny fit jeans. The fit was exceptionally perfect. Due to the wash, which was one subtle shade lighter than my preference, I returned the jeans.

  1. maybe find a good seamstress? it sounds like a lot of those "imperfections" like extra fabric or cuffed hems could be fixed by a good tailor. i can't live without mine – she is always threatening retirement – i'll be lost!maybe a good tailor would bring a 90% perfect to 99.9%. i can only imagine how much time and energy it takes to constantly search for that elusive 100%!

  2. koko: Haha, it's difficult to find a good tailor here. Especially because I cannot afford to try out every tailor in the city. I've only had bad experiences with tailors. One them destroyed my very expensive leather jacket :( In addition, it's extremely expensive because I live in the most expensive country in the world. :( So I rather search for that 100% elusive even though it's exhausting.. haha. but actually, it's a bit fun and enlightening too. searching for perfection = i discover things i've never been aware of regarding my style and taste. like.. i didn't know that i don't like folded hems on tapered trousers (because i usually fold my jeans, etc).

  3. Anonymous: That's my plan. I want the new standard jeans.. but there's only ONE store that stock 4-5 pieces from APC in Oslo.. so.. I'll go there in february

  4. I find your ability to restrain yourself so effectively until you've find the "perfect" one to be extremely remarkable. I'm far from being a perfectionist myself, and don't care much for it, but I still hope to learn more of that discipline you display.

  5. I don't like to alter stuff.. i like their pristine condition!softasbeets: i know! ringte dem ang noen størrelser en gang. har aldri vært i bergen :-( og de har lagt ned web-shoppen deres så jeg vet ikke hva de har inne!

  6. Hahaha I do this ALL the time, which explains why I have been wearing the same few pieces over and over again for the past year. The details are extremely important! I too, refused to settle for anything less than perfect.

  7. Gina: Same here. I prefer the garment's pristine condition, especially if we're talking about designer clothing. But if the designer store, for example Balenciaga offers tailoring I'd tailor the garment.

  8. Reading your blog has inspired me to go through my closet and get rid of all of the pieces I don't love!(and by get rid of, I mean give away, of course. Unless they're unwearable.)
