Style notice: La street spontanéité

(via thefashionspot)

Whenever I feel a tad uninspired, I always flick through the August 2009 issue of Vogue Paris until I find the most inspirational photograph ever. Rapidly, these magic words “la street spontanéité” became my style principle. Although I love the idea of a classic and understated style, I also love this French nonchalant attitude towards fashion.

I just love that I can pick out a top and bottom blindly and yet the items go perfectly together. It only takes me 5 seconds to get dressed in the morning.. I do not even need to reassure my outfit by looking in the mirror before I leave the house, because I know that my ensembles work in any case. That’s the benefit of having the perfect wardrobe that is constantly in progress, I guess. In addition, this perfect coat from Isabel Marant adds this incessantly nonchalance to my style. I cannot wait to start wearing my desirable coat again.

  1. That is one perfect coat. I am working towards this kind of wardrobe too, filled with lots of loved items that can be mixed and matched and adapted to any situation. Your blog is great :)

  2. That is one of my favourite fashion photos ever taken. I feel you can almost never go wrong with Isabel Marant. [Well, I am sure someone probably could] I always love Paris Vogue's August issue.I love that coat, I can't wait to bring out my autumn/winter coat that I have missed so much. I too love the wardrobe that I have created, and that the pieces work well. It takes the stress out of getting dressed each day.

  3. Great shot, definitely looks French to me. I envy them. I have a question for you. I've been reading your blog posts today and getting inspired but when I look into my closet I can't seem to image getting rid of some of the pieces, even if I really don't wear them. Did you have a real hard time sorting through your things, getting rid of some of the things? I think it is because I spent money on them. I dunno, for whatever reason I can't seem to part with even the meaningless things…

  4. This picture is perfect. So effortless looking and chic, exactly what I want my style to be. "La street spontanéité" might have to become my new style motto! Feels like a correct term for my style.. Wanting to feel comfortable but yet chic, looking great without trying too hard.I'd love to have my perfect wardrobe right now but I understand that it's something one has to build for quite the long time. I can't wait until the day I can get dressed in 5 seconds. (sorry for such a long comment, haha)

  5. Thanks for the comments. I love reading your opinions. Jacquelyn: Right. I always feel safe when I purchase items from Isabel Marant. I've NEVER regretted buying any of the stuff I own by Isabel Marant. I even wear them frequently!Anonymous: Well… I had loads of new and unworn shoes and clothes in my room.. taking up all the space, and because I didn't have a decent job and wanted a Balenciaga bag, I started selling those stuff on "shoesandyourmom". I made a fortune – haha… and I realized that the money spent on the perfect bag I'll wear forever is better spent than on a bunch of unworn clothes. No.. it's hard to explain. I didn't compromise, I sold/donated almost everything in my closet except for some inherited clothes. If you start thinking "oh no.. I can't donate this one because blahblah" – you'll think that about everything else in your damn closet!Cecilia: Think of building your wardrobe as collecting art. Everything must be picked carefully. I like that philosophy!

  6. Oh, I wish. Så snart jeg får bygget opp min garderobe på nytt igjen, vil det kanskje ikke ta meg en halvtime å kle på meg, hvor jeg uansett føler meg stygg. Lol.

  7. Very chic no doubt. I'm very good about 5 seconds, pulling blindly when it comes to my work wardrobe, since I keep it all grouped together and keep the color palette very simple. It's when I'm dressing casually that takes more time as it's like my entire wardrobe opens up to me, not so "street spontanéité" for me.

  8. Ja, det er jo sant. Glad jeg er over det nå… Samme her. Jeg skal kaste min bare jeg får tak i en ordentlig en – noe jeg sier om det meste jeg har i klesskapet, haha. Når skreiv du innlegget ditt forresten? Hvis ingen av oss visste om den andres er det nesten litt morsomt.

  9. I like your blog! it is so refreshingly different from the thousands of fashion blogs out there! they are all so generic and a bit embarrassing! thanks for a new and different blog!

  15. Anonymous: The coat in this photograph is the bator jacket from the mainline f/w 2009/2010. The etoile coat is from this season.. it's the same shape I think, but the fabric is cheaper or something.. I don't know. Haha!manuela: Thank you very much!
