My wardrobe essentials pt. 1

1. The beloved ‘Bidou’ suede boots from Isabel Marant
Ever since I purchased these boots in Paris, we have not been separated unless it rains. My wardrobe color palette is restricted to black, grey, white and navy. Funny because I’d never think of spending a lot of money on a pair of boots in the strangest color called taupe. But I love these shoes and consider them as my wardrobe essentials. The Isabel Marant boots define my style and they’re so French. Wearing these boots make my outfits less predictable. Believe it or not – these shoes go with everything in my closet.

  1. So gorgeous, and they will look even better with age, I love little secrets like that you know what they are and that what matters, I lok forward to a full outfit post to see how you wear them.

Also, I did use to follow your old blog and was always intruged by your style, perhaps you could elaborate on why certain people influence you? Just an idea, I love the blogging so far!

    A.

  2. - Anonymous: You’re right. I’ve been wearing the boots for only a month but they look pretty worn already. And the heels are even damaged because I wore them when I was riding the bike. My style is constantly in development and it has changed a lot since the time I wrote my old blog. It’s nothing like my old style. Perhaps I’ll write some posts about it. Thanks for the comment! :)

    - Ida: Enig! De slutter perfekt ved ankelen.

  3. Everyone – EVERYONE – I know in Paris has a pair of boots that look like this – and every brand has its own version from the Isabel Marant originals to Kookai and Jonak. So far I’ve resisted because – well – everyone has them. But they’re so cute! I may well succumb…

    • YES! I know. But here in Norway no one has a pair of boots that look like this. Even the chain stores don’t make copies of this kind of boot apart from Zara. But there must be a reason why everyone has them – they’re cute and chic! :D

  4. I still can’t get over how much I love these boots and despite the fact I have a very similar looking pair from sessun I’m nevertheless continually craving the IM ones :p

  5. Omg I’ve been wanting those shoes for so long! Unfortunately I’ve been losing every single bidding war on Ebay for one of those babies :( They go for ridiculous prices!

Anyway, glad that you’re blogging again. Your style has definitely changed a lot from your previous blog but you’re still as stylish ;)

    xo

  6. Thanks for the comments :D

Val: Haha, yes. My style has changed a lot from 2008 and I am so happy for that. I guess it was a phase in my life where I had an urge to look somewhat weird/crazy, I don’t know.

    • Haha, omg, YES! But thanks to YOU I got them. Next time I let the cordonnier fix my precious boots, I have to learn the weekdays in french first. Well, at least I’ve learnt something from that incident. Thank you <3

  7. I have them too! Worn them to death but they’re still a staple. I had “forgotten” about them for a while and it was such a treat to wear them again! Like falling in love all over again… Okay, maybe I’m a tad too lyrical but you get what I mean!

  8. supersuperfine! de eneste skoene jeg har som passer til alt er de svarte martensene mine, men jeg orker ikke akkurat å bruke dem hver dag

  9. I wish I could find these online… none of the knock-off’s are as good and those would be the most ideal shoes for my wardrobe. Did they cost an arm and a leg?

  10. - Aïssa: Ahh, I know that feeling. Haha. I can’t wait to fall in love with my IM coat soon. Please, let the autumn start early this year.

    - maren: Haha, skjønner. Jeg brukte dem hver dag i 1 år, og da jeg gikk over til vanlige sko føltes det ikke ut som om jeg brukte sko en gang. haha!

    - Taylor: Agree. I’ve tried many knock-off’s from french chain stores but they’re not as perfect as those from Isabel marant. Haha, I paid 335 euros but to cut a long story short: I gave them to the cobbler who couldn’t speak English, and because my French isn’t the best I misunderstood him and the day I was supposed to get my shoes (the same day as my flight departure), the store was closed. Happily, my french friend picked them up and shipped them to me.

  11. Why did you give them to a cobbler? What was wrong with them? I found a cheaper alternative, in case you’re interested…maybe for rainy days: Clarks Westhay Suede Boots.

  12. hi !!!

I love your blog..I have just a question: do you think these boots are already available in stores now or they are out of stock? (I live in the north of france)

thank you for sharing all yor beautiful pictures of fashion..

    kisses xx

    • Thank you. I don’t think they’re available now because it is the end of december. But you should wait till the next collection, the boots are staples that Isabel Marant repeats every season :)

  13. am loving your series on your favorite IM pieces :D i got a pair of tall pull-on IM boots on clearance at a boutique last summer and i’ve gotten compliments every time i’ve worn them!
